Proudly Australian & Proud to Manufacture in Indonesia
Satu Bumi is an Australian-owned manufacturer of high-quality GRC products, combining Australian customer service and project expertise with the manufacturing capability of our own factory in Indonesia. This unique model allows us to deliver reliable, cost-effective GRC solutions for commercial projects across Australia.
How We Started
Satu Bumi is a 100% Australian owned business that commenced manufacturing GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete) commercial planters, large planter boxes, and other precast concrete landscaping products in 2012. The founding owners, Gary Landers and Harry Grace, both had very successful commercial careers in the Asia/Pacific region before establishing Satu Bumi and were looking for an opportunity to establish a new business with their sons, Robert and Lachlan. They decided to enter the GRC manufacturing industry after recognising a real gap in the supply of quality GRC planter boxes and other concrete-based landscaping products.
Although GRC manufacturing technology had been around in these markets for some time, it was clear that very few companies were able to manufacture and reliably supply quality GRC landscaping products in commercial volumes. Now with an ISO 9001:2015 certified factory in Indonesia that covers around 10,000 square meters (approx. 100,000 square feet) and includes around 270 staff, Satu Bumi has the capacity and competence to consistently produce high-quality GRC products that are highly sort-after throughout the world.
What Makes Us Different
The uniqueness of Satu Bumi’s business model is based on a combination of the following three key physical elements:
1. An Australian head office - for
the provision of responsive
customer service
Satu Bumi has an intense focus on customer service and its “solutions-based approach” to the supply of GRC products for commercial projects sets it apart from its competitors, and includes the following key elements:
Pre-ordering project estimating assistance – to avoid mistakes
Product engineering and design services – for custom projects
Access to product catalogues of GRC products – for faster delivery and lower unit cost
Direct supply (no middleman) – for better pricing and delivery control
Post installation and warranty services
2. A 100% owned and controlled
Indonesian factory - to control
product quality
Satu Bumi has built a large manufacturing facility in Indonesia with a low-cost infrastructure model that is fully owned and completely focused on the manufacture of high-quality GRC. Therefore, in conjunction with Satu Bumi’s Australian office, Satu Bumi is able to offer a unique business model with the following key attributes:
Low manufacturing costs to support very competitive product pricing
Direct communication with the manufacturer for order management control
Large controlled production capacity for delivering projects on time and in volume
Supply-side project management – to ensure orders flow smoothly
3. A unique product delivery
service - to minimise
Australia’s expensive interstate
transport costs
Satu Bumi has established warehousing facilities in each of Australia’s mainland capital city ports. Therefore, since it typically only charges its customers for the transport of orders from the nearest capital city port, Satu Bumi is able to provide very competitive transport costs that virtually eliminate the high cost of interstate land transport in Australia.
What We Stand For
Our approach to business is built around three core commitments: delivering consistent quality, supporting our customers and partners across Australia, and creating a responsible and capable manufacturing operation in Indonesia. These commitments shape how we work, the products we deliver, and the relationships we build.
Commitment to Quality
Satu Bumi has been certified for the ISO 9001:2015 standard for the “Manufacturing of Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete Products (GFRC)” by the internationally recognised BSI Group. ISO certification has been a major quality control initiative by Satu Bumi to support its internal focus on the consistent reliability of its product quality and to provide its customers with credible external evidence to that effect.
Commitment to Australia
Satu Bumi's global marketing and senior management office is in Australia because the business is fully owned by its Australian principals. In addition, Satu Bumi has established estimating, account management, and project management teams in its Australian office to support its GRC solutions approach to servicing its Australian based commercial construction and professional landscaping customers. The company's manufacturing facilities are in Indonesia because the cost of producing labour intensive GRC landscaping products is significantly less there than what can be achieved in Australia.
Commitment to Indonesia
Satu Bumi has a large factory and a significant workforce in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Many of Satu Bumi’s Indonesian employees are well educated with formal tertiary qualifications in engineering, commerce, marketing, human resource management, graphic design, architecture, and international transport logistics. Whilst many more are highly skilled tradesmen who are experienced and trained as electricians, metal workers, cabinet makers, mould makers, design artisans, and GRC craftsmen.
Satu Bumi is a member of, and is regularly audited by, SEDEX and is dedicated to improving and maintaining responsible business and social practices in Labour Standards, Health & Safety Standards, Environmental Standards and Business Ethics to ensure it meets both local Indonesian standards and the standards required by our international customer base. Click on the SEDEX logo to the right for additional information about what it means to be a SEDEX member.
In addition, Satu Bumi is committed to the ongoing training and upskilling of its employees as part of its commitment to the Indonesian government, for the continuous improvement of its products and services, and to ensure that Satu Bumi continues to attract the best talent available.
How We Work
Our approach to delivering reliable products and service starts with the people behind the business. By connecting our Australian customer service team with our manufacturing and management teams in Indonesia, we work collaboratively to support our customers, manage projects efficiently, and maintain consistent standards from production through to delivery.
Satu Bumi’s Business Model is Focused on Customer Service

Therefore, in conjunction with the establishment of its unique physical business model, Satu Bumi has also set up a customer service team to link these unique physical attributes efficiently, as shown in the diagram below.
Satu Bumi’s Focus on Human Resources
Satu Bumi recognises the importance of quality people and a strong human resources organisation infrastructure to the delivery of both quality products and reliable services. Therefore, Satu Bumi has invested very heavily in its HR processes to ensure it employs, supports, and maintains the best talent.
