Project Background
With over 570 stores in Australia and over 10,000 stores located around the world, ALDI has established itself as one of the most reputable and awarded retailers in the international business market.
ALDI has now opened a store in The Warralily Village which is an integrated part of the Armstrong Creek master planned community development that provides a perfect balance for modern convenience living and includes signature landscapes, large areas of rich parklands, three large sporting facilities, an impressive shopping precinct and a vibrant local community.
This development project also includes well-known quality retail names such as Coles, Liquorland, Australia Post, Dan Murphy’s, Hungry Jack’s and many more, and is conveniently only minutes away from the Geelong city centre and the seaside towns of Torquay and Barwon Heads.
Satu Bumi’s Involvement
Satu Bumi was engaged directly with George Rydell Constructions to manufacture and supply a range of custom GRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete) street furniture which consisted of a combination of GRC bench seats with timber slat tops, GRC planter boxes and GRC planter benches also with timber slat tops.
This was a highly bespoke landscaping project where the GRC elements of the project were manufactured by Satu Bumi and the timber slat tops were manufactured by industry leading furniture manufacturer, BCI Furniture.
This project showed Satu Bumi’s ability to manufacture and deliver GRC landscaping products in collaboration with a third-party timber manufacturer to produce a custom street furniture solution to suit a high traffic public space.
All the planters, tables and benches were manufactured with high commercial grade GRC using Satu Bumi's CityScape technology with a white concrete smooth finish.
This project highlighted the competence of each of the key participants particularly George Rydell Constructions that provided the installation and project management services for the landscaping elements of the project.
Therefore, Satu Bumi was proud of its involvement in terms of the manufacture and supply of the GRC planters and GRC furniture and its coordination of the timber elements of the project with BCI Furniture.
