FORD TESTING GROUND - LITTLE RIVER
Project Background
The Ford You Yangs top secret proving ground which is used in testing a range of Ford’s global vehicles, is situated 26 kilometres from the port city of Geelong, covers 900 hectares, sits within Victoria’s Western Basalt Plains Grassy Woodlands and is a hub for Ford’s vehicle testing in the Asia Pacific region, alongside the Geelong R&D centre and the Engineering Centre and Design Centre setup 70km away in Melbourne’s outer north.
The Ford You Yangs Proving Ground is one of only several fully equipped Ford proving grounds in the world, has played a major role in developing a range of Ford cars for the global market, and is constantly calibrating other Ford global products for Asia and the Americas.
Satu Bumi’s Involvement
Satu Bumi was engaged directly by Cachet to manufacture and supply a range of GRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete) furniture for the outdoor social space located within the Ford proving grounds.
The outdoor furniture used for this project was selected from Satu Bumi’s standard catalogue ranges of GRC bench planters, GRC tables and GRC bench seats.
The outdoor layout was designed by Cachet, which is a leading Australian commercial design and construction provider, who also managed the sourcing and installation of the outdoor elements for the project.
This project showcased Satu Bumi’s ability to manufacture standard outdoor GRC furniture designs to suite a quality commercial project.
All the planters, tables and bench seats were manufactured with high commercial grade GRC using Satu Bumi's CityScape technology with concrete smooth finishes in conjunction with hardwood timber top seating.
This project highlighted the competence of each of the key participants particularly Cachet that provided the design, sourcing, and installation management services for the project.
Therefore, Satu Bumi was proud of its involvement in terms of the manufacture and supply of the GRC outside furniture for the project.
