Project Background

Rockhampton Museum of Art provides inspiration, engagement, and enrichment by art. It is engaged with the regional community and its visitors through programs that encourage participation and appreciation of the visual arts by providing access to new nationally practising artists and arts, and by always acknowledging the culture and heritage of the region.

The museum’s permanent collection is one of national significance. It tracks Australia’s modernist movement with artworks by significant Australian artists and continues to collect contemporary art by living artists.

The museum is where art is shared, bringing major touring exhibitions to the region, and showcasing the region’s own creativity to the world. It celebrates the place and people of Central Queensland, showcasing artists and artworks with a deep resonance with the region.

Satu Bumi’s Involvement

Satu Bumi was engaged by the Penfold Projects to manufacture and supply eleven large GRC “Town Hall” planters for the beautification of an outside communal public space beside the Rockhampton Museum of Art. Each of the planters were 1500mm square, over a meter high and include lifting lugs, forklift access holes, a colour pigment, and textured ribbing to match the outside façade of the adjoining building.

Penfold Projects is a substantial and progressive, Queensland and Victorian based, landscape design and construction company servicing residential, public, and large commercial markets right across Australia.

This project displayed Satu Bumi’s ability to manufacture large, custom finished, GRC planters to suite the aesthetic and function requirements of a public space fit out. All the planters were manufactured with high commercial grade GRC using Satu Bumi's CityScape technology with a smooth pigmented finish.
