Project Background

Woolworths Fishermans Bend is located in the Wirraway precinct, close to Port Philip Bay and Westgate Park, and is set to be a thriving retail destination in one of Australia’s newest urban development projects.

In a completely unique concept for an Australian supermarket, Woolworths Fishermans Bend is an adaptive reuse of an existing warehouse, inserting a cutting-edge retail neighbourhood centre into an industrial setting.

Designed to spark a change in the surrounding urban landscape, the building needed to be warm and inviting to encourage families and locals to want to use the new space; so these design aspects were carefully included to enhance the customer experience.

The construction project was managed by George Rydell Constructions, a well-established Victorian company with over thirty years of experience that has grown to be one of Australia’s most respected and flexible construction companies.

Satu Bumi’s Involvement

Satu Bumi was engaged directly by George Rydell Constructions to manufacture and supply over ninety GRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete) rectangle planters in a range of sizes for the car park entrance and the front of the building.

This project showcased Satu Bumi’s ability to manufacture commercial grade GRC planters in quantities and specific sizes to suite a large retailer’s quality expectations.

All the planters were manufactured with high commercial grade GRC using Satu Bumi's CityScape technology with a charcoal concrete smooth finish.
