Project Background

Santa Sophia Catholic College is a state-of-the-art college designed to accommodate up to eighteen hundred and sixty students and is located in Box Hill in Sydney’s North-West which is one of Sydney’s fastest growing regions.

This impressive school consists of five building zones, each rising to between four and six storeys, connected by podiums full of interactive play elements suited to different student age groups.

The project was delivered by Buildcorp which is a well establish family-owned business with an enviable reputation in the construction industry having built many impressive buildings across the eastern states of Australia over more than thirty years.

The landscaping spanning each of the school’s five zones, was provided by Landscape Solutions which is one of Australia’s foremost landscaping companies with operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Auckland.

Satu Bumi’s Involvement

Satu Bumi was engaged by Landscape Solutions to manufacture and supply Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) landscaping elements to the project which included thirteen large custom triangular GRC Rotunda bench planters, fifty-five standard and tapered top rectangle and triangular GRC planters, and a 16.275-meter GRC triangular shaped GRC bench.

This was a highly bespoke landscaping project that showcased Satu Bumi’s ability to manufacture unusual GRC planter and streetscape landscaping designs to suite the required functionality of a large construction and landscaping project for the education sector.

All the planters, planter-benches and benches were manufactured with high commercial grade GRC using Satu Bumi's CityScape technology with both natural grey and charcoal concrete smooth finishes.

This project highlighted the competence of each of the key participants particularly Landscape Solutions that provided the installation and project management services for the landscaping elements of the project.

Therefore, Satu Bumi was proud of its involvement in terms of the manufacture and supply of the GRC planters and GRC furniture for the project.
