Project Background

The Old Treasury Building is regarded as one of the finest public buildings in Australia.

Completed in 1862, it was the major government office in Melbourne throughout the 19th century, and second only to Parliament House as the centre of state affairs.

The adjacent Treasury Gardens is one of Victoria’s oldest public gardens which was originally set aside as a public reserve in 1851, developed in 1867 to a design by Clement Hodgkinson and then further developed by William Guilfoyle.

The old and impressive Treasury Gardens includes avenues of mature trees along crossing paths featuring contrasting evergreen foliage of conifer, palm, and Moreton Bay Fig trees against a backdrop of deciduous elm, oak and poplar trees.

This backdrop makes Treasury Gardens a popular venue for weddings, community events and rallies.

Satu Bumi’s Involvement

Satu Bumi was contracted directly by Multipro Civil to manufacture and supply several street scape custom GRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete) benches for the Treasury Gardens.

Multipro Civil is a civil construction company operating throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, specialising in civil construction and street scape projects.

This was a highly bespoke landscaping project that showcased Satu Bumi’s ability to manufacture custom GRC street scape designs to suit government public spaces.

All the benches were manufactured with high commercial grade GRC using Satu Bumi's CityScape technology with a natural smooth concrete aggregate finish.
